I was extremely fortunate to be able to capture the birth of little miss Marlowe last month. Talk about a low key birth and a super cool and calm mama.. Dana made the whole thing look like so easy.
I asked them to text me when she was 6cm dilated and that's when I would make my way there. I arrived within about 20 minutes and spent the next hour or so just hanging out, and stepping in to capture a few "how are we doing?" shots here and there before the real action started!
Max texted me that we were at go time, so I made my way in and stayed out of the way to let the nurses and doctor do their job.
It's critical for the birth photographer to definitely not be seen or heard during this process. I don't want to distract anyone from the gravity and importance of the event and just want to be a fly on the wall to document this truly awesome experience.
Dana and Max chose not to find out the sex of their baby and they both had different guesses! When they announced it was a girl, she just burst into laughter and couldn't stop smiling and proud papa was pretty speechless with an equally elated expression.
I came back to the hospital the day they were checking out to snap some Fresh 48 newborn shots of the family in the hospital room before they went home. Big brother Teddy was there and made sure we all knew that little miss Marlowe was "his baby". He never shied away from holding her, stroking her face or showering her with sweet big brother kisses.
I'm certain that this little bundle of sweetness will have everyone wrapped around her finger for a very long time.
